ELKHART LAKE, WI (August 9, 2016): TRG, along with drivers Gerry Kraut and Joel Janco, had a strong double-header race weekend at the scenic Road America track in Wisconsin. The two drivers of the No. 66 Dougherty Funding/ DeathtoLionfish.org/LaSalle Solutions/Adobe Road Winery Lamborghini Huracán finished in 4th in Saturday’s race and 6th in Sunday’s race.

Kraut and Janco each drove in both 50 minute sprints with a driver change halfway through. The drivers, who currently compete in IMSA’s Prototype Lite race series, did well to handle the switch from very light, high-downforce cars to the heavier Lamborghini sportscar. Their adaptability from one platform to the other was a key component to success as they competed against multiple classes in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo races, eventually finishing just one position shy of a podium on Saturday.

Guests of TRG were cheering on the Lamborghini Super Trofeo action from all over the track — this gorgeous, 4.048-mile circuit with its 14 turns is best enjoyed by touring the lush terrain with the team’s golf carts. Privileged access to the official Lamborghini hospitality suite allowed TRG invitees to mingle over espresso and gelato, dining amongst series race drivers and other corporate attendees in an upscale setting.

On Friday and Saturday night, team guests and friends were treated to a private sunset boat cruise, delicious meals, plus Adobe Road Wine and Lagunitas beer. Friday’s “tiki boat” dinner on the serene Elkhart Lake provided an opportunity for guests to meet each other in an intimate, relaxing setting. Wine and stories were passed around from old friends of the team — LaSalle Solutions — to new guests of a private wealth management firm. The following evening, a 5 star meal was served at a spectacular lakeside at a home on Crystal Lake.  Driver Joel Janco led the group on a “Lap of Road America” describing all the twists and turns and challenges of driving this world class racing circuit. Kevin Buckler, CEO of both The Racer’s Group and Adobe Road Winery, shared the latest barrel samples of his absolute best Sonoma and Napa county wines over a fantastic dinner. The winery has just opened a new tasting room in the Bay Area town of Petaluma, CA, and will be opening a much larger facility, including a TRG racing museum, next year.

“It was a great race weekend for both drivers,” said Kevin Buckler, CEO. “Gerry and Joel just totally peaked on Sunday and really got the hang of this GT car, I couldn’t be prouder. The guys turned their fastest laps and finished on a high note. We had a fantastic group of guests. TRG uses motorsports as an amazing tool to build solid relationships around this great sport. Great job to the drivers and the entire team!”

DeathToLionfish.org: Lionfish have invaded the Caribbean, Bahamas, Florida and Gulf of Mexico – the INVASION ZONE. Populations are exploding and the invasion could become disastrous for coral reef ecosystems. An obvious question is why aren’t lionfish a problem in the Pacific? Surprisingly, not much is known about lionfish ecology in the Pacific. Some scientists speculate that large groupers might eat them and that other predators consume lionfish eggs, but nobody really knows for sure. What we do know is that in the INVASION ZONE, few natural predators exist – except for humans! Learn more at deathtolionfish.org.
