TRG Drivers Tackle Laguna in IMSA GT3 Challenge

Joining the American Le Mans Series over the weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was the IMSA GT3 Challenge Series with TRG Drivers Doctor Jim Norman and Carlos Gomez. The 38 car field of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars took to the track with a double-header format with variances of Laguna Seca experience across the board. JN11TRG1_copy
In the first race, as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca newcomer, Gomez, learned the track, Norman struggled to find lateral grip in his No 11 Porsche. Starting the race from row 10, Norman managed to make a handful of impressive moves work his way, taking him all the way up to the tail-end of the lead group before a late race spin sent him back to finishing P18. Meanwhile, Gomez started in row 5 in his No. 75 Capitol Managers/ Porshce, where he was slow to find the speed he needed. Once Gomez got the car working for him, the race was nearly over, putting in an impressive drive to finish P10.
For the second, abnormally lenghty race, the teammates shared row 9 for the start. Mid-way through the contest, after running stand-out lap times, Doctor Norman had contact with another entry forcing the No 11 to be put behind the wall and ended his day 22-laps down. Gomez, on the other hand, had things go his way and adapted nicely to the flowing racetrack, making a run all the way from 16th to a podium finish, placing third!
