AXA, TRG REUNITE FOR ROLEX 24

Petaluma, CA —

After a strong partnership together throughout the 2009 season, AXA and Brent Koch have once again partnered with The Racer's Group (TRG) in pursuit of a victory at this year’s historic Rolex 24 at Daytona. This is the final car in the TRG armada and puts TRG is in strong contention to defend their 2009 Rolex victory.

Driving in the No. 66 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car will be a stellar lineup of former winners and veterans. Ted Ballou will return to the team for his fourth straight Rolex 24, and hopes to continue his podium run of success. Ted has been second the last two years in a row. Joining Ted will be another native of Southern California, Porsche veteran Pat Flanagan. Pat has been involved with TRG since 2003, and has raced in everything from Daytona Prototypes, to the Rolex GT series, as well as numerous seasons in the IMSA Patron Challenge and Porsche Club of America. Joining the Californians will be three very famous names to the race: Andy Lally, Kelly Collins, and Wolf Henzler. Lally, a two-time winner and the defending champion, has a strong history in the No. 66 and looks to continue that. Collins, who drove with TRG in 2006, has had a fantastic career in GT cars and a strong history at Daytona.  Henzler, driving in his first race with TRG, is a previous winner of the race and comes as a highly rated Porsche factory driver.

AXA Financial is a leader in financial protection strategies and wealth management, supporting individual and business clients. The organization and Brent Koch have long been supporters of the team, as evidenced in their partnership throughout much of the 2009 season. Starting with a second place in last year’s Rolex 24, the partnership continued throughout much of the season between drivers Ted Ballou and Spencer Pumpelly.

For Team Owner Kevin Buckler, the opportunity to re-unite with such a strong partner, as well as form such a strong driver lineup, is a welcome addition to the mix. “AXA is a fantastic organization and re-defines the standard of a true partner in this business,” stated Buckler. “They help us and many others in the sport in so many ways and the Grand-American Rolex Series provides a great platform for AXA to spread their message and look for unique opportunities to forge strong business to business relationships.  I’m proud that they’ve continued with TRG as a means to do so and we work very well together to help accomplish our mutual goals.  The driver lineup that we have here is just fantastic. Ted and Pat are always quick at Daytona and both of these guys are super committed to this years race.  It’s great to see Pat back in our camp. Kelly is not only fast but one of the most solid and predictable endurance racing professionals out there.  I’m really excited to work with Wolf after driving against him for so many years, but it says a lot when we all have a mutual respect for each other and invite a long time adversary in to our camp. Andy of course has a stellar history with our team as well as this race and I look forward to seeing this car fight for the win.”

For Brent Koch, Principal of Wealth Management Strategies, LLC, the opportunity to bring AXA in to sportscar racing and field opportunities for their financial services has been a welcome one. “We’ve enjoyed a fantastic year together in 2009, and looking towards 2010 I really hope we can see this program really grow. TRG has created a great platform for us to further our business development, and I really hope to see the AXA 66 on the top step of the podium this year.”

TRG Re-Signs Pumpelly for 2010 Season

Petaluma, CA —

Petaluma, CA (December 30, 2009)- As the 2010 Grand-American season kicks in to full swing at next week’s Roar Before the 24 test, The Racer’s Group (TRG) is proud to announce the return of one of the team’s regular contributors to TRG’s strong pool of driving talent, Spencer Pumpelly.

Joining the team in late-2006, Pumpelly has partnered with the team for three full seasons, and brings with him a resumé that includes six wins in Grand-American competition, including a victory at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. Recognized as a valuable asset not only for his ability behind the wheel, but also his vast experience and enthusiasm as an instructor and leader in TRG’s driver development program, the Georgia-resident will play a major role in the team’s 2010 plans.

“I’ve known Spencer for a very long time now and he’s always impressed me,” stated Kevin Buckler, team owner of TRG. “Spencer’s a guy who knows how to win and he is brutally fast, but equally important he’s great with our developing drivers and our well rounded motorsports programs. He’s very insightful when giving advice and going over data, and he has an incredibly positive and encouraging attitude. We’ve had a great working relationship for the last three years, and I’m really looking forward to a strong 2010. He is part of our inner team as well as a good friend.”

For Pumpelly, the continuation of his career with TRG is a welcome one.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last three years with Kevin and all the guys,” stated Pumpelly. “I feel like I have a real home here, and it’s extremely satisfying to play such a large role in their driver development program.”

Starting with Daytona, Spencer will already be pulling double-duty, campaigning in both the Grand-American Continental Challenge Series with series newcomer Steve Miller, as well as the Rolex 24 at Daytona in TRG’s No. 67.

Looking ahead, the combination of Spencer Pumpelly and Andy Lally on TRG’s professional driver roster makes the team one of the most sought after in the paddock.

“The ability to retain the services of guys like Andy and Spencer makes our team one of the top contenders in both series next year,” Buckler stated. “It’s a tough year for everyone but we’ve been lucky enough to have built a really strong house for ourselves, and I look forward to creating a strong program for anyone who wants to become a part of it."

TRG was founded in 1993 and has been competing at the top level of motor racing ever since. TRG OPENS 2010 WITH STRONG DAYTONA 24 LINEUP

Petaluma, CA —

Petaluma, CA (December 24, 2009)- Looking to defend their Rolex 24 at Daytona GT victory just eleven months ago, The Racer’s Group will begin 2010 with a strong lineup headed in to the Roar Before the 24 test days in early January.

As the three-time champions of the famed 24-hour classic, including once overall, and winner of seven podiums in the last eight races, TRG has always had a strong history at Daytona. 2010 will be no different, featuring everything from Rolex champions, to Porsche factory drivers, and even a NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion.

Starting with the famed No. 66, TRG will be joining forces with another recognized Porsche sportscar team, Flying Lizard Motorsports. As the reigning two-time champions in the GT2 category of the American Le Mans Series, Flying Lizard Motorsports has teamed up with TRG for this one-time event due to the team’s vast experience and success at the track.

Driving the ShoreTel-sponsored Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car will be several familiar names to sportscar fans everywhere. Seth Neiman, Flying Lizard team principal, will return to Daytona after competing several years ago. Joining Seth will be Johannes van Overbeek, who will be making his third appearance with TRG. Johannes previously finished on the podium in TRG’s No. 64 in 2007. The team will also include Porsche factory drivers Joerg Bermeister and Patrick Long. Bergmeister and Long are coming off of an extremely successful 2009 with both teams, first winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona with TRG, and the American Le Mans Series GT2 championship with Flying Lizard.

For team owner Kevin Buckler, the opportunity to pair with such a successful brand is a great show of comraderie for Porsche.

“Joining with Seth and all of the guys at Flying Lizard is a welcome opportunity for everyone. The Flying Lizard organization is the only other current Porsche GT-style team to have had such a long and healthy run in sports car racing, and I couldn’t be more proud to run with them and mutually achieve another victory for Porsche," Buckler said. "We have a great history with Johannes, and especially Patrick and Joerg, and I’m sure we’ll put on one heck of a show. And it will be great racing with my friends!!”

As the reigning race champion, TRG’s No. 67 Porsche GT3 997 boasts an equally impressive lineup of drivers. Returning to the team for his third straight Rolex 24, Tim George, Jr. will take a break from his full-time stock car career to get back behind the wheel of a TRG Porsche. George, Jr. was the Rolex Series Rookie-of-the-Year in 2008, and in his last two Rolex 24 races has finished third and second. Joining George, Jr. will be two of his former teammates, Andy Lally and Spencer Pumpelly. Lally and Pumpelly, having re-signed with TRG for 2010, will bring some strong credentials to the lineup with Lally looking to defend his victory at Daytona last year and collect his third Rolex watch. Pumpelly, a Rolex 24 victor in 2006, will be looking to win a second watch with his former teammates. Additionally, TRG will be bringing on Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler. Henzler is the 2005 Rolex 24 Champion, and one of the best Porsche drivers in the world.

Finally, joining TRG’s No. 67 will be NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Bobby Labonte. Labonte, TRG Motorsports’ full-time driver in the No. 71 Sprint Cup Series car, has driven the race three-times previously, though never in the GT category.

“I’m really excited to come see what the other side of TRG is all about. We’ve had a great experience in Sprint Cup together, but they’re most known for sports car racing and I can’t wait to see that side from the driver’s seat," Labonte said. "Driving a Porsche in the GT category will be a whole new experience, and I got some great seat time in at the tire test, so it should be a great day.”

For Buckler, seeing so many familiar faces is a welcome sight for car 67.

“The 67 will have a great shot at repeating a victory. Andy and Spencer have been there before with us and know what it takes, and I’m excited to finally have Wolf in the car with us," Buckler said. "Bobby has proven to me over the last year that he knows what it takes to drive “endurance” smart, and we really want to give Tim an opportunity to take the win this year. Tim has seen the podium from two different positions now, and we’d like to finally show it to him from the top!”

Additionally, TRG will be bringing a familiar car from 2009, TRG’s No. 63. As a regular at TRG, driver Henri Richard will be running in his first ever Rolex 24 race. Following a strong 2009 season of racing around the world, the Frenchman is up to the challenge, having driven a number of Ferrari Challenge and FIA GT events around the world last season, as well as driving some impressive stints with TRG at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Joining Richard will be 2009 TRG teammate René Villeneuve. Hailing from Southern California, Villeneuve joins the team with the most Daytona experience, and will be bringing his usual team of fans from the Polizei 144 brand. The duo will be teamed with drivers Zak Brown, Richard Dean and Mark Thomas. Brown, a fellow Ferrari Challenge competitor, has worked with Henri for a number of seasons and looks forward to a strong debut. Dean, a professional driver from the UK has strong endurance racing credentials and Canadian native Thomas has competed in a number of International GT races as well, and also looks forward to a strong debut.

For Buckler, the opportunity to bring the experience of a lifetime to this group is the sort of endeavor in which he relishes.

“Three of these guys will be racing for the first time at this event, and that’s the sort of experience that I really enjoy providing. There’s simply nothing like walking the pits at 3AM and realizing that you’re still part of this spectacle, and I know the guys will have a great time." Buckler said. "Henri has been a great friend of TRG’s since we first met, and I have to say the guy is pretty darn fast. It’s great to have René and all of the guys at Polizei 144 back, and given his strong experience I’m sure he’ll deliver a solid effort. Zak and I raced against each other in the 90’s and he was always really fast so it is great to be racing together now. Richard Dean is a strong professional driver from the UK with solid endurance racing credentials and a Le Mans GT2 win. Mark is new to the team but certainly not new to racing, as a consistant front runner in FIA GT and a big win at Spa last year. I really look forward to watching him come in to his own at this event, as well as showing him what we can do together.”

Looking ahead to January, there are still a number of big announcements to come. With a full-time staff still hard at work for some possible new entries, the atmosphere at TRGis filled with promise.

“Everyone has their heads down and is hard at it. We’re the defending winners of this race, and I want to come in swinging and ready again this year. There are a number of good teams and cars aiming for us, but I know we have what it takes to put on a winning effort.”

TRG was founded in 1993 and has been competing at the top level of motor racing ever since. The team has the most wins of any team in the Grand-Am Rolex Series with 26, including the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Series GT championship trophy to go along with wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

TRG USING OFF-SEASON TO PREPARE FOR DAYTONA ASSAULT

Petaluma, CA —

Not known for slowing down or taking time off, Kevin Buckler and the entire TRG organization won’t be telling you their stories of Hawaiian vacations or overseas getaways, but rather off-season tales of pushing harder than ever with bigger dreams of conquering the Rolex series yet again and delivering for their drivers.

Headed in to the upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 30th and 31st, TRG will not only be the defending champions of the prestigious event, but looking for their sixth straight podium, and their eighth in nine years! As three-time winners of the event, including once overall despite being in the GT class, Daytona has always had a special place in the hearts of the team.

“Daytona has always been a special place for the guys and myself,” stated Team Owner Kevin Buckler. “We first visited the track nearly 15 years ago, and I’ll never forget walking in and just being in awe of the place. It was always our ultimate goal to try and conquer the race, so 15 years later to have won it three times and stood on the podium for eight of them, it’s a really special accomplishment.”

Known for successfully running comprehensive multiple car programs, not to mention premier hospitality and attention to professional preparation and presentation, TRG is synonymous for catering to the top drivers, teams and sponsors for the famed race.

For Buckler, the ability to successfully work with a number of initiatives is all part of the program. “Obviously our results speak for themselves at Daytona, but one of the things we always wanted to make clear is that we’re capable of putting together a comprehensive program for newcomers as well as top level professionals. On the track, our professional drivers, engineers, and data acquisition provide unparalleled access to tools and information that someone new to the race will really benefit from. Off the track, our hospitality and marketing staff always have guest entertainment and attention to sponsors at the forefront of their minds, and we make sure that everyone under our tent has a great time.”

Headed in to the full Rolex GT season in 2010, TRG is looking to add another team championship under their belt. With a number of surprise announcements for the season coming, the team is anxious to get the ball rolling. “We’ve been hard at it to try and line up some really big announcements for next year,” stated Buckler. “Beyond Daytona, we’ve got a program for the season that will create a new level of performance and be really attractive to drivers, partners and sponsors. I’m really looking forward to what could be our best year ever.”

Now in the middle of November, the team is still welcoming opportunities for drivers, teams and sponsors, however time is quickly running out with seats filling up. The announcement, made by TRG Motorsports team owner Kevin Buckler, TaxSlayer.com’s Assistant Director of Growth Daniel Eubanks, as well as Labonte, came during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tour stop at Phoenix International Raceway.

Labonte will compete in a total of seven races in 2009 in the No. 71, including the final four events of the season. After weeks of speculation regarding his position next year, Labonte is very pleased with the decision he’s made and looks forward to building on the success the team has seen in 2009.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity that I’ll have next year with both TRG Motorsports and TaxSlayer.com as a sponsor,” Labonte said. “Each time I’ve run with the team this year I’ve enjoyed the experience, and I’m looking forward to filling the seat full time next year and really building on what we’ve started. I have gotten to know the management team at TaxSlayer and they are great people. I am looking forward to representing them next season.”

TaxSlayer.com made its debut in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at this year’s race at Watkins Glen International Raceway, and will have served as the primary sponsor of the No. 71 a total of six times in 2009, including the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"Everyone at Taxslayer.com is very excited to continue our relationship with TRG Motorsports and Bobby Labonte," stated Eubanks. "TRG and TaxSlayer both exhibit a phenomenal product and unbelievable quality. Headed in to next season, we're looking forward to showcasing our service to the entire NASCAR community, especially as tax season approaches."

After years of success in sports car racing, TRG Motorsports team owner Kevin Buckler is pleased to see his entry into NASCAR’s top echelon proving to be successful so quickly.

“This is a huge day for TRG Motorsports. I am unbelievably excited as we move into 2010 knowing that we’ve got a Championship-caliber driver, a team with the skill set and equipment to go to Victory Lane and sponsors like TaxSlayer.com,” Buckler said. “We have come an incredibly long way in a very short time. I think today’s announcement speaks volumes for the potential that we have as an organization, and shows we’re doing the right thing. I especially want to thank Slugger and Mike Brown for their leadership in 2009. They have put us in a position to attract a driver like Bobby and sponsors like TaxSlayer.”
