TRG Puts Two in the Top-10 at Canadian Grand Prix

Montreal, QC, Canada (June 12, 2011)- When TRG unloaded their three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars on to the famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Series presented by Yokohama, everyone was quietly confident that this would be the weekend to show the team’s true potential.

Following the first four rounds of the series, the team’s full season drivers of Dr. Jim Norman and Randy Oswald had continued to show strong form, however some bad luck and unfortunate incidents had masked their true form headed in this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. As an event run in conjunction with the FIA Formula One World Championship, the team also added Carlos Gomez from Bogota, Colombia, to make this weekend’s event a three-car assault during this highly attended race.

Running competitive lap times throughout practice, the team would grid for the race in the 9th, 11th, and 12th positions, with newcomer Gomez setting the fastest time for the team, as part of an astonishingly close field that positions 2-10 within a second of each other.

In a strange change of fortune, as the cars took to the grid for the event the skies over Montreal darkened and the rain came, forcing IMSA officials to declare a “wet race,” meaning all cars would have to start on wet weather Yokohama tires. As the green flag flew, the traditionally chaotic field failed to disappoint, and several cars would run off course facing any number of directions.
