TRG had Another Busy Weekend with Events from Coast-to-Coast
(PETALUMA, CA – October 11) TRG continued another busy weekend of Porsche racing on both coasts with the Porsche Club of America as well as the Pirelli GT3 Challenge Series.TRG had three Porsches competing at Laguna Seca with two long time drivers to the team, and one driver learning to road race Porsches. The No. 7 Porsche GT3 driven by Steve Miller spent all weekend near the front of the pack running in the Platinum class. Miller qualified in second in both races. The Porsche continued to show the pace in the race that it demonstrated in qualifying. A second in race one was backed up by a second in race two. In the third and final race, Miller hit a curb too hard and had a tire go down. This tire issue resulted in a 10th. This means that Steve Miller enters the final race weekend of the year for the GT3 Challenge Series at Sonoma in the points lead by seven points.
Chris Pallis piloted the No. 23 Porsche and Mark Nelson commanded the No. 32 Porsche during the weekend at Laguna Seca. Pallis posted two top tens in the highly competitive Platinum class after having taken a few months off to watch his son's football season. Nelson was pleased to post two top five finishes in the Gold class in only his second event.
On the other coast, new TRG driver David Block drove the No. 48 Porsche in a PCA club race at Daytona International Speedway. Block, Australian ace James Davison, and third driver John Dubets were the line up for the Porsche last weekend. They had a great weekend on the same track that is used to host the annual 24 Hours of Daytona. Block was able to post his best ever lap at DIS, three seconds faster than he had ever recorded. In the one and a half hour race, the No. 48 Porsche finished fourth after having an extra pit stop to accommodate third driver Dubets in the event (other teams had only two drivers that shared their Porsches).
Kevin Buckler on the TRG PCA Weekend:
"I am really proud of the boys holding the TRG flag high while we were at VIR. Chris, Steve, and Mark did a great job out at Laguna. Of course I would've liked to be there as it is one of my favorite circuits. David was busy down in Daytona turning some incredibly fast laps in his first event with us. I was so happy to hear of everyone's good results and appreciate the guys racing with us."
Chris Pallis on the Laguna Seca weekend:
“What can you say – it’s Laguna Seca! It’s one of the best tracks in the world and the setting in the beautiful Monterey Peninsula only makes it all the more special. Once again, TRG did a super job preparing the cars. We had a ball.”
Mark Nelson on learning to road race:
"I had an absolute blast in my second race weekend with TRG and first time at Laguna. It's been an incredibly fun learning experience moving from many seasons in AWD rally cars several years ago to road racing in a GT3 cup car. The car was amazing and the team did a phenomenal job with preparation and taking care of the car throughout the weekend; it really allowed me to focus on learning and coming up to speed. I couldn't ask for a better weekend."
David Block on the Daytona PCA event:
“The TRG team overcame several unforeseen obstacles to keep the car on track all weekend, and at the front of the pack. Great work."
