TRG sells HANS Safety Systems

TRG Reccomends HANSTRG has selected the HANS Device as the recommended head and neck restrain system for its drivers, and is a HANS factory-trained sales and installation center. TRG wants you to wear your HANS Device.

The HANS (Head and Neck Restraint System) is an incredibly important piece of safety equipment that works with any Snell certified helmet. A properly fitted HANS Device allows the driver's head 45 degrees of rotation to the left and right. Vertical head tilt is nearly identical to that of an unsupported driver's head, until the event of an impact when the HANS Device significantly restrains the head.

Basalar skull fracture and blunt force head trauma are the two most common causes of death and injury to race car drivers. Basalar skull fracture is the breaking of the skull at the junction of the upper spine. The HANS device was developed with the objective of preventing this injury. After 20 years of independent lab testing and actual racing crashes, the HANS device is still the best performing head and neck restraint available. Very simply, it can save your life.

TRG Sells HANS DevicesHANS devices come in two variations, Standard and Professional series. The Professional series is crafted with weight savings in mind, it's total weight is between only 6 and 8 ounces. Professional series also include quick release tethers and optional detailed coloring.

To select the appropriate HANS model for your application, the following guide has been provided.

1. SEATBACK ANGLE
For comfort the HANS should match the angle of your seatback.

  • MODEL 10 - EXTREME UPRIGHT SEAT
    Fits some Sprint cars.
    If you sit very upright and cannot get comfortable with a Model 20 try this Model.
  • MODEL 20 - UPRIGHT SEAT
    Fits Touring Car and GT applications including Porsche, BMW, Ferrari Challenge, Panoz, and GT purpose built cars. Marine applications including UIM and Drag Boats.
    • NOTE: Drivers over 200 lbs. may find a Model 30 more comfortable in Touring/GT applications.
      In all cases driver comfort is the deciding factor.
  • MODEL 30 - SEMI RECLINED SEAT
    Fits Formula Mazda, Atlantic, Infiniti Pro, Barber Dodge, IRL, C/D Sports Racer, Formula 1 and similar.
  • MODEL 40 - RECLINED SEAT
    The Model 40 is a rare application and fits extremely reclined seats such as Vintage Formula Ford.
    Many people who buy a Model 40 return it for a Model 30. Please measure your seat (use an angle meter available at DIY-type stores) before ordering.


2. NECKSIZE
The width of the HANS Device collar is sized to fit your neck or shirt collar size.

  • Under 12 Inches - Size Extra Small (XS) (For people under 100 lbs.)
  • 12 to 14.5 Inches - Size Small (S)
  • 15 to 17.5 Inches - Size Medium (M)
  • Over 18 Inches - Size Large (L)
