PassTime USA and TRG-AMR Driver Kris Wilson Takes Dominant First Pole Position of 2014 CTSCC Season, Will Start Race from 2nd Place in Season Championship
Pre Race/Qualifying Report
KANSAS CITY, Kansas. (June 7th, 2014) … The PassTime/TRG-Aston Martin Racing GS machine took the pole position under the lights of Kansas Speedway last night for the upcoming Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) GS class race tonight. TRG-AMR and Wilson entered this weekend with their sights firmly set on gaining ground in the championship and getting to the top step of the podium after a season-high 3rd place finish at Laguna Seca earlier this year.
TRG-AMR currently sits 2nd in the championship points, but will have to race this weekend without its star driver Max Riddle again, who is recovering from a small road car accident. Taking Riddle’s position alongside longtime CTSCC veteran Kris Wilson is Indy 500 Rookie and TRG-AMR regular James Davison. Fresh off his maiden Indy 500 outing, Davison looks to capitalize on the great pole position set by Wilson to help propel the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 to it’s first-ever CTSCC victory.
Kris Wilson, TRG-AMR North America Team Driver on last night’s pole position: “I made a couple mistakes and the guys actually called me in, but I asked to do one more lap because I felt I could clean up a few things, and it worked! said Wilson. “I couldn’t have asked for a better car – thanks to the TRG-AMR guys for giving me such a solid platform to help me take the pole. Really looking forward to a good race.”
James Davison, TRG-AMR North America Team Driver: “Kris did an amazing job – I’m really happy to be driving alongside him this weekend – he’s a real veteran around the paddock and seems to know everyone here! The guys have given us a great car, Kris has given us the best starting position possible, now it’s up to the two of us to bring home the checkered flag. I’m really looking forward to a great race tonight.”
Kevin Buckler, CEO, TRG-AMR North America on Kris’ Qualifying performance: “I really love it when a plan falls into place. We came down here to Kansas with our eyes firmly set on grabbing this pole position and setting ourselves up for a victory in the race. Kris did a great job in the car and made all of us proud. Delivering a pole position for our new sponsor/partner PassTime couldn’t be better. PassTime CEO Stan Schwarz and I had a terrific call with both of our teams a few nights ago and set this plan into action. It is really nice to be able to deliver them a pole on our first race together and we look forward to continuing a strong relationship with them, running at the front of the grid both on and off the track.”
