License to Thrill: Nielsen-Davison Duo Heads to Monterey to Tackle the Corkscrew Following 2nd Place Finish at Sebring

Monterey, CA (May 1st, 2015) … The scenic coastline and rolling hills of the Monterey Peninsula play host to the next round in IMSA TUDOR SportsCar Championship competition this weekend, with the No. 007 Royal Purple/ORION/LaSalle Solutions/PassTime USA Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 ready for action. The driver duo of Dane Christina Nielsen and Aussie James Davison are ready to take to the track, both admitting that Laguna Seca might just be one of their favorite tracks in North America.

Coming off an impressive 2nd place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March, Nielsen and Davison are looking to improve upon that position and move to the top step of the podium here at TRG’s home track. While the race at Sebring was over four weeks back, the duo has not slowed down, with both drivers competing in three rounds of Pirelli World Challenge competition since then.

The 2.2 mile circuit has been a Monterey area landmark since the late 1950’s when it was built on the Fort Ord military installation, flowing with the natural landscape and accentuated by the seven story turn 8 drop, infamously referred to as “The Corkscrew.” Drivers from around the world have struggled and relished in this turn for decades, adding to the infamy and legend of the track.

TRG has an impressive history here at Laguna Seca, with the team winning two years in a row in the ALMS GTC category in 2011 and 2012, wins in Rolex GT and Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge GS, and multiple podiums throughout the years.

Christina Nielsen, TRG-AMR Team Driver:
“Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks in North America. The scenery, the atmosphere, the track – it’s all an incredible experience. I’ve been working hard and racing every weekend for the past two weeks straight, learning everything I can about the V12 Vantage GT3 and training hard. I know James has been doing the same. We are coming here to win, like everyone, but we really want this and are working hard to achieve it. The team has been great in making sure I am comfortable in the car and learning everything I can about getting the most out of it every time. Really looking forward to a strong performance here at Laguna.”

Kevin Buckler, TRG-AMR CEO:
“This is our track! We always love coming to Laguna Seca, a purpose built, natural terrain racing circuit and with such history. This is where TRG was originally based back when I first started racing professionally in the early 90’s. We have won many times here and 2 of the last 3 big GT races as well. Christina and James have been working diligently to prepare themselves and the car for the race this weekend. The crew have been working around the clock – from Long Beach to Barber and back for Laguna – these are some of the hardest working guys in motorsport. I know we have a really good shot of doing well here this weekend. Everything is in place, everyone is ready, let’s go out there and get a win.”
