Pirelli Trophy West USA is known for putting on well-run events that spotlight driver development, wheel-to-wheel racing and a strong sense of camaraderie among the competitors. The series has grown season after season and this year, the championship is hosting stand-alone events for the first time.
Our TRG drivers, Chris Bellomo and Dr. Jim Rappaport were excited to finally get the championship underway at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Outside Road Course, March 23-25. These two are extremely talented drivers and expectations were high as Chris and Jim began a full season in Pirelli Trophy West USA Silver Class racing in TRG’s lightening quick Porsche Cayman Clubsport GT4 MRs.
Under the expert tutelage of coach Robert Orcutt, both drivers were eager to put great results up on the board and they didn’t disappoint with Chris climbing to the top step of the podium in both races. Dr. Jim was right on his heels, securing second-place finishes in both Las Vegas races.
Next, it was on to one of the drivers’ favorite courses — The Thermal Club in California’s desert. Saturday’s races saw Chris (#67 TRG Porsche Cayman) again taking the win, his third in a row, with Dr. Jim (#71 TRG Porsche Cayman) taking second place, once again. Sunday’s race finally saw Dr. Jim get that maiden win!
All of that hard work — relentlessly studying video and data, practice races, testing and physical preparation is really paying off in great results for Chris and Dr. Jim. You can see them on the track next May 4-6 at Utah Motorsports Campus. Be sure to follow the racing right here and on our social media channels.
