Bowmanville, Canada – (July 10th, 2014) TRG-Aston Martin Racing heads to Canadian Tire International Raceway this weekend for the next round of fierce competition in both the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
After a hard-fought 11th place finish at the incident filled Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen with the trio of David Block/Al Carter/James Davison, the team is ready to again try and battle to the top step of the podium. The race will return the No 007 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 to the sprint race driver pairing of Carter and Davison. This duo finished fourth at the prior sprint race in Detroit, less than five seconds after the winning GTD entry. At a track known for speed and its incident-filled races, the raceway (formerly known as Mosport) will truly test the team, drivers, and Aston Martin race cars for the duration of both events.
In Continental Tire Sports Car competition, the season-long duo of Max Riddle and Kris Wilson are ready again to try and grab the championship lead, after a podium-finish at Laguna Seca and a well-deserved win at Kansas Speedway, earlier this season. The duo has been a strong contender in the championship all season long, growing stronger and more competitive each race. The team is looking forward to capitalizing on the track’s high speeds and challenging corners with the impressive high-speed handling characteristics of the Vantage racecar.
Kevin Buckler, CEO, TRG-AMR North America: “It’s great to be back on on this crazy good circuit in the GT3 and GT4. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Astons take on the straight line and high speed cornering of Canadian Tire International Raceway. We have a terrific record here with a big win for me and the team back in ALMS in the old days as well as an epic 1-2 finish in 2011.
After the tough battle at The Glen a couple weeks back, we’re ready to get back into our “short” race form and take the fight to the front – in both races. Al and James are ready and Max and Kris are in the running for the Conti championship and aren’t holding anything back this weekend. This track has always been known as a place that separates the men from the boys – I think everyone will take notice this weekend that we’ve got two pair of very capable drivers and 2 fantastic Aston Martin racecars.”
Al Carter, TRG-AMR North America Team Driver: “After our three driver format at The Glen which included David (Block), I’m ready to get back into sprint race mode and tackle the field with James (Davison) again. We’ve been improving our pace every single race this season and have shown the field that we have what it takes to run at the front – this may be our weekend to prove it. I always love coming to races in Canada – the fans and local community help create an ambiance of electricity and excitement around racing – something not typically replicated in America. I’m confident that this will be our weekend to really show the field what we’re made of.”
Max Riddle, TRG-AMR North America Team Driver: “As a Canadian I always look forward to races on my home soil. Even though I’m a “west coaster” from BC, I still enjoy flying the national colors and representing my home country. We’ve spent the past few races showing just how strong the GS-spec V8 Vantage GT4 can be – now I think we’re at a track that will exemplify the performance of the car as well as suit my driving style. It’s going to be a great race – look for me on the top step of the podium!”.
